This an Actual Posting By a Fellow Cruise Planners advisor seeking guidance for a client who is in trouble away from their home.

Clients traveled from Ohio to Miami today for honeymoon.  Husband lost his wallet somewhere between airports. Airlines checked the plane with no luck.  Of course, both of their IDs were in his wallet.

Convinced hotel to let them check in since it was prepaid without a card on file. They are currently using uber/Apple Pay to survive until they can get to bank in the am.

Suggested they take uber to bank to be there when it opens.  Only wife has a photo of her license.

Will airline let them travel back home without an ID?

MY COMMENT

Believe me, I don't feel smug. It can happen to anyone.  But, if you are traveling then going through all the things that can go wrong is your best personal insurance and assurance that you don't end up in this type of situation. We have a checklist on the website that should be started 30 Days before you exit your home to begin a vacation.

Here is one page of 3.

30 Day Pre-Trip Planning Checklist

Oh, and everyone carries their own passport, tickets, etc., copies of all travel docs in a suitcase, and copies emailed to yourself and to a trusted friend.

Seriously, a key metric for us in our travel agency is "% stress experienced on vacation". The goal is zero.
